Ignasi Simón wins the Young Talent award in his native Spain. The award was announced at the Vallesà of the Year gala held May 15 at the La Fonteta Civic Center in Sant Feliu de Codines, Spain. Ignasi Simon (24) received this award for his academic achievements at the national and international level in the field of nanotechnology.
His scientific career began with Dr. Borrós at the Institut Químic de Sarrià. He obtained a degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), where he graduated at the top of his class and second of his promotion. After a scientific stay at Werfen, he was selected for a project at Sant Sebastià, which resulted in a patent. He completed his studies at UCSD and conducted research with Professor Joseph Wang and Professor Darren Lipomi, which led to the publications of several articles. In 2022, he worked at the BioCenter Summer School in Vienna. He received a "La Caixa" grant, completed his master's degree in nanomaterials at the University of Manchester cum laude, and became a PhD student at TU Delft.
He is currently involved in the European Integrative Neuromedicine Flagship project, a collaborative initiative of the Erasmus Medical Center, Erasmus University Rotterdam and TU Delft.
Specifically, Ignasi is developing advanced drug delivery systems based on ultrasound-sensitive liposomes aiming to treat neurodegenerative diseases and brain cancer. Since starting as a PhD candidate in November, he has published his first scientific paper in the journal Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews under the supervision of Dr. Alina Rwei.
Talent Jove aims to highlight young people under 25 from Valles who excel in a sector or activity in the region or the world. The award was live on local TV, appeared on the cover of a local newspaper and on several websites. He was invited to a talk on live TV and a one-hour interview. |
