This conference aims to uncover, discuss, and assess dissonances between the governance practices and lived experiences of human mobility and migration. Second, it turns scholarly attention to the concept of repair, i.e. subtle acts of care by which order, meaning and human value are maintained and transformed.

ASA2023 – Sport and play in an unwell world
How do Queer sports organizations challenge dominant forms of “doing diversity” in sports? Can critical forms of (Queer) inclusivity contribute to safe(r) and more inclusive spaces to enjoy sports? These were the leading questions of the paper that LDE GMD's Kay Mars and Lieke van der Veer presented at the 2023 conference of the Association of Social Anthropologists (ASA).

"Copying the Rotterdam South National Programme would be a grave error"
The National Program Rotterdam South (NPRZ) served as the Netherlands' sole urban policy program for ten years. Now, 19 additional vulnerable neighborhoods are imitating South Rotterdam's success.

LDEGMD's Reinout Kleinhans, a specialist in urban redevelopment, claims that although there is a "life-size" risk of copying, doing so would be a "capital blunder". The lack of local involvement, in his opinion, is NPRZ's greatest weakness.

A weekend away: GMD Board organize short holiday for cohort
The weekend of May 12-14 was a special time for the students of the GMD Master programme as they embarked on a delightful trip to Wolphaartsdijk, Zeeland. With a group of 20 enthusiastic individuals, the destination was a sailing school situated in a picturesque harbor. The weekend was filled with exciting activities, great food, and unforgettable moments.
