Editorial

Dear SENSE member,

Did you already take a look at the new SENSE website www.sense.nl? Behind the scene we worked on a more spacious design and new features in close collaboration with BUTOTIJS, website builders from Groningen. The most thrilling new feature is the current research page, on which you can find each other within the SENSE network. Of course, the design of this monthly newsletter will go through a make-over as well anytime soon, but let's build up some extra curiosity before we launch the new design.

Next week, I - Viola Bennink - will start to enjoy my maternity leave with peace of mind. After being active as PhD candidate in the SENSE PhD council, I worked for SENSE since November 2019 as information and communication officer. My main project for SENSE has been the development of the new website and I am proud of the result. After my leave, I will solely work for Wageningen Environmental Research within Wageningen University & Research. Marjolijn Dannenburg will remain the information and communication officer for SENSE. I wish you all the best and sincerely hope that the new website and newsletters will help to further unpack the full networking potential that SENSE has to offer.

Kind regards,

Viola Bennink

The course will held from 20 September -1 October 2021 at Wageningen University. Deadline for application: 14 June 2021. We encourage researchers from all fields in the environmental science to apply; including researchers from the natural sciences, who may wonder how their research can contribute to transitions in society.

International conference on cohesive sediment transport, 20 September - 01 October 2021
This conference for research on cohesive sediments started in 1981 in Gainesville, Florida. In the last 40 years, INTERCOH has grown to the leading conference on cohesive sediments with a flourishing community. Since the first edition, the concept stayed the same: scientists and engineers share their passion for mud in an informal setting, with the aim to improving our understanding of the dynamics of cohesive sediment in the natural and built environment. For the 16th Edition in Delft, 100-150 participants are expected.
