Utrecht region is Europe's most competitive region |
The European commission has designated Utrecht as the most competitive region of Europe. This according to the recently published Regional Competitiveness Index. This means that Utrecht is the region with the greatest competitive strength. Researchers compared 234 European regions on nearly 70 indicators for the business climate. Utrecht scored the highest on both education and innovation.

UMC Utrecht and the Princess Máxima Centre are forced to take legal action against the decision of the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport to remove the interventions for congenital heart defects from Utrecht. If the children's heart team disappears from Utrecht, seriously ill children will have to travel to another location in the country for highly specialised and radical parts of their treatment where there is no oncological expertise. |

Kadans Science Partner and Stichting Utrecht Science Park officially gave the go-ahead for the construction of Plus Ultra Utrecht on 13 April 2023. Plus Ultra Utrecht will be nearby the Genmab R&D Centre and the recently completed Accelerator Utrecht. |

The digital version of the map can be found on our website. The old maps on the information kiosks located throughout Utrecht Science Park will be replaced with the new maps over the course of the spring. |

Marjolijn Haasnoot and Sanne Akerboom in Scientific Climate Council

Two researchers from Utrecht University have been asked to serve on this council. Dr Marjolijn Haasnoot specialises in water management and climate adaptation, Dr Sanne Akerboom is a lawyer and political scientist specialising in Regulation and Governance of Energy Transition. The Scientific Climate Council will provide government and parliament with broad, well-founded scientific advice. |

HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht and large consortium receive 2 million grant

HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht has received a €2.3 million grant to carry out the SMART project together with a large consortium. Within the SMART project, an approach will be developed in which self-monitoring, artificial intelligence and behavioural change techniques are used to support people with osteoarthritis of the hip and knee in the areas of self-management, physical functioning and participation. |

Sportcentrum Olympos: offers free bootcamp sessions

Olympos now offers free outdoor boot camp training sessions three times a week for employees of organisations at the Utrecht Science Park. Exercising in between or immediately after work is relaxing and gives you a good energy boost at the same time.
