| Most children feel afraid of injection needles. For some children this aversion is so strong that taking a blood sample is a complex matter. The Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital (WKZ) is specialised in children with fear of needles and asked our students and researchers to see what role social robots might play for them. Can such a robot sufficiently distract children or even help take away the fear? |

| A new building at Utrecht Science Park Bilthoven: Impetus |
| The new building Impetus will be realized in the heart of the Science park and offer various tenants a lettable floor area of 14.000 m2. It will be a highly sustainable building that allows for almost any layout desired by the tenants with the transparent and flexible design. Impetus will offer space for laboratories, offices, and small-scale production facilities. The building is expected to be completed in 2025. |

| Utrecht University starts research on stranded common dolphin |
| A dead common dolphin (Delphinus delphis) was found along the coast of Texel on the 10th of January. An animal keeper from nature museum Ecomare found the animal, after which it was transported to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine for further investigation. This common dolphin is a young adult male weighing 47 kilograms and 1.70 metres long. |

| Giro d'Utrecht 20 May 2023: sign up |
Last year the Utrecht Cycle Racing Trilogy was completed with the start and finish of the Vuelta race in Utrecht. That’s good reason for a little celebration and a reworked concept, which is why the Classico Giro Utrecht is now called Giro d'Utrecht, with a new design identity and website. The Giro d'Utrecht will be taking place on Saturday 20 May, once again starting on Heidelberglaan.

| European collaboriation improves treatment and research |
| Collaborating with European scientists improves the treatment of children with cancer worldwide. For example, Dr. Hans Merks and Dr. Reineke Schoot of the Prinses Máxima Center are working from various collaborations to find better treatment protocols for children with sarcoma, a tumor in the bone or so-called soft tissue. |

| Olympos starts with new courses from 13 February |
With the OlymPas you can participate in a wide range of courses. Courses take place once a week at a set day and time and are given by a professional sports instructor. Most course periods last ten weeks/lessons, in addition there are course periods that run five weeks/lessons. On 13 February a new course period will start: registration starts on Monday 30 January.
