Meet Ana Somoza-Tornos |
I joined the Department of Chemical Engineering (TNW) on August 1st 2022 as a tenure-track assistant professor. My research will focus on the modeling and optimization of sustainable chemical processes. I will work on closing carbon cycles through carbon capture and utilization (CCU) and waste-to-resource technologies. Joining the e-Refinery initiative, I expect to work with you on scaling up CO2 electrolyzers.
I was born in Barcelona, Spain, where I also completed my education. I earned my BEng in Chemical Engineering (2014), MSc in Chemical Process Engineering (2016) and PhD in Process Systems Engineering (2020) at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC). For the past two years I have been doing research in CCUs as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Colorado Boulder (USA), in their Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute.
In my free time, I enjoy reading sci-fi books, playing board games, making pottery and creative writing. |
