| A few weeks ago, Othon Moultos received the Young Researcher Award at the ppeppd2023 conference in Taragona, Spain. This award is given to young researchers who have made significant contributions to Properties and Phase Equilibria for Product and Process Design. |

| Van 't Hoff Lecture 2023: Cost-effective Upscaling of Cultivated Meat, an interesting challenge |
| The annual Van 't Hoff lecture took place on Tuesday 30 May. Marc Post, prof of sustainable industrial tissue engineering at Maastricht University and CSO of Mosa Meat talked about the unimaginable scale of cell/tissue production and the need for low-cost production. About biomaterials and coatings that play an important role in tissue formation and production. More ethical challenges for consumers were discussed, such as the need to grow cells and tissues without animal components, abstinence from antibiotics and genetic modification. |
