History
Using moving floor trailers in the waste sector dates back to before the year 2000. Their advantage over traditional container trucks was considerable: a higher volume and a lower own weight. This allowed a larger load to be carried with each trip, significantly increasing efficiency and revenue. Another key advantage was the shorter unloading time of a moving floor trailer compared with a container truck since it required fewer actions.
These benefits made moving floor trailers a massive success in the waste sector. Knapen Trailers was the first moving floor producer to enter this market, initially in Western European countries. An expansion to the East of the EU soon followed. The first moving floor trailers used in the waste market were still fairly generic due to the limited range of specific waste options.
