Hello Brighton!
The brilliant Woodfire crew has invited five exceptional chefs to cook a Harvest Full Moon Feast over the fire at Westerlands on the 16th of October. With all profits going to Prostate Cancer UK, the feast will be served surrounded by nature and festooned with stars. The five courses of delicious, seasonal food will be complemented by local beers, marshmallows of course, and a few, little surprises to delight you all. This is a real one-off, so drop what you’re doing and buy your tickets before it's too late!

We all know Hove Place is a great spot to be in the summer with its beautiful, spacious garden, but it turns out it's perfect for cosy autumn evenings too. Their new wine-tasting evenings offer an expertly guided tour through a wine region, with cleverly paired dishes of seriously tasty food. Emily thoroughly enjoyed her introduction to the wines of Spain, not to mention the classic paella and Crème Catalana. Hola!!

I was tickled to find a bottle of Burning Sky behind the bar and Gunn Brewery on tap at an achingly cool North London pub recently. It reminded me just how many amazing craft breweries are on our doorstep. City-centre Unbarred has recently created an Amalfi Lemon & Basil Pale Ale to drink with the delicious pizzas at Fatto a Mano, perfect alongside their seasonal special - Carolina’s Meatballs - and its secret sauce (available until the 17th of November).

We’re also delighted to hear that in leafy Queen's Park, neighbourhood favourite and BRAVO's Best Cafe - Starfish and Coffee - will now be open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from the 10th of October, with a very welcome Pizzaface collaboration. There are tantalising reports of two new Yeastie Boy pizzas at Shelter Hall. And at Purezza, there’s a fab new set menu, including a 7” pizza perfect for lunchtime. It’s high time for pie!

As well as craft beer, there's a deep well of talented, creative people making stunning Sussex wines and increasingly, spirits. Think Goldstone Rum, Bloody Bens, Brighton Gin, and now - drumroll, please - Bonsai Venom Sake from Dom at the award-winning
Bonsai Plant Kitchen. Knowing Dom, we’re pretty sure this is going to be an instant classic, but we sent lucky Brittany over to check out the scene anyway…

Team RB has been busy, as always. On Tuesday, for example, we grabbed breakfast at Granny’s Café, had a working lunch at Hotel du Vin, and then feasted at The Coal Shed. Our friends from Uber Eats popped in for a coffee, and we pinned down Ben (the boss) for The Dish. Jude took to hand-modelling like a pro at The Grand’s Cyan Restaurant. Next up, Emma’s off to The Cat Inn this weekend, and I’ll be checking out The White Hart in Lewes. It’s all go!
We’re excited to see that Kemptown’s freshest local, The Bell Tower, is opening its doors today. We might just drop in to say hi…
Yours, wearing flats and stretchy trousers,
Hannah and Team RB
