New photo series Utrecht Science Park |
"It was an honour and a great pleasure for me to be asked to take photos for the communication of the Utrecht Science Park for the third time since 2018. The rapidly changing, dynamic and special architecturally strong environment makes it a great setting for me to do my work in my own style. I am very happy with the collaboration and the series of images it has produced again this time." - Stijn Doors |

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Utrecht University sets criteria to see if brachycephalic dog complies with current legislation

This is to prevent the continued breeding of dogs with traits that cause unnecessary suffering. The Genetics Expertise Centre at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has drawn up the criteria that can be used to test whether a dog complies with the current legislation. The PETscan diagnostic system includes an interactive scoring form, which can be used by vets to issue such a statement for a breeding animal. |

UMC Utrecht, UMC Groningen and Erasmus MC cooperate: 'Heart-in-a-box' means more heart transplants
|
Two years ago, the first heart transplant took place in the Netherlands via a new "heart-in-a-box" technique: by making a deceased patient's heart beat again outside the body, it could still be donated. The great shortage of donor hearts prompted this new application and the first results are very favorable: 60 DCD hearts have already been transplanted and the waiting list is stabilizing. |
