Mechanochemical production of hydrogen carriers |
Sodiumborohydride (NaBH4) is regarded as one of the options to store and transport hydrogen safely and at relatively high energy density. Large quantities of hydrogen gas can easily be released when the sodiumborohydride powder is dissolved in water and brought in contact with a catalyst. |

Buckling of a monolayer of platelike particles trapped at a fluid-fluid interface |
Two-dimensional nanomaterials, such as graphene and graphene oxide, are platelike particles with nanometric thickness. Understanding the behavior of these 2D nanoparticles at fluid interfaces is crucial for various applications. Corrugated films, produced by assembling nanosheets at the air-water interface, are used as high-performance electrode materials. However, the formation of these corrugated films through buckling instability remains poorly understood. |

Factory seeks heat |
You won't get very far in the chemical industry without (quite a bit of) heat. Now that factories must say goodbye to natural gas as a heat source, work is in full swing on new heat pumps that can provide the high temperatures needed. But there are still many obstacles to overcome. (Dutch only)

Advanced distillation course |
In January there is an advanced distillation course at ISPT, which includes a full day on heat-pump assisted distillation, a full day on dividing wall distillation and a full day on reactive distillation. this can really bring your knowledge of the most applied separation technology in industry to the next level! With heat pumps and dividing walls we can make the technology much less CO2-emitting with savings up to 70-80%.
The course is especially for EngD students, PhD students and Postdocs in Chemical Engineering and related disciplines.
