Hello Brighton!
It wasn’t always like this, folks, but nowadays our city has become a bona fide foodie destination - great for the local economy, even better for us hungry residents. While we hope Restaurants Brighton is your first port of call for gastronomic recommendations, the Michelin Guide has plenty to offer, and the AA Hospitality Awards has recently showered our county with glorious rosettes. What a lineup!

etch. has retained its 3 AA Rosettes since 2021, thanks to the seriously elevated dining experience at this very fine Hove establishment. Their autumn-winter tasting menu launches at the end of October, featuring seasonal gems like full-flavoured, sustainable venison served with parsnip and walnuts. We think this place is hard to beat.

This week, Ki Kefir made in East Sussex was announced as a finalist in the BBC’s Food and Farming Awards. It’s already in my basket! With fresh local produce in abundance, chefs are creating sumptuous seasonal menus. Check out the latest at Embers, Bohemia, and Terra at Tottington Manor. Wherever you choose, there’ll almost certainly be something temptingly new on the menu.

More good news, this time for chef Dave Mothersill’s fabulous North Laine restaurant Furna which CODE Hospitality has named one of the Happiest Places to Work in 2024. While most of what you’ve heard about Furna is probably about the outstanding food and elegant decor, it’s great to know that the team are enjoying themselves too.

With the launch of The BRAVOS 2025 just months away, we’re getting everything shipshape. We’re excited to announce that our project with The University of Brighton has led to the creation of a sustainability checklist and (coming soon) a special badge for participating restaurants to display proudly. We’re hoping that this process will align with the BRAVOS Most Sustainable category in 2025. More to follow.

We’re off to see the sustainability trailblazers at Moshimo tonight for a Team RB Temaki Party—fingers twitching and taste buds tingling at the very thought of it! I’m off for a mighty Monday roast at Kindling, Brittany will be dining in style at The Fig Tree, and our friend the Brighton Beer Blogger is headed to The Cleveland Arms. (All the while, in the back of our minds, festive feelings are stirring…)
