Sunday Glow Up at Embers, Woodfire Camping, Summer Holidays..
Hello Brighton,
This city is mad for wood-fired flavours and the amazing choice of flamed food you can find here. The original Coal Shed is entering its last summer at Boyces Street with a new menu so good they reckon you’ll happily face the sack for the chance to eat more. Jude will be putting that claim to the test next week. Our breath is baited. Simply delicious flame grilled steak with classic sauces are the stars of the show at Kindling and smokehouse fans will be thrilled with the new ‘back to our roots’ Salt Shed at West Pier Beach Bar. Meanwhile, Torsten checked out the excellent campfire-inspired Sunday sharing roast at Embers (whose new summer menu also launches this week). So many choice cuts!

Woodfire Camping still has some holiday availability at their stunning Firle and Westerlands sites. Let them take care of the cooking while you put your feet up and enjoy the show. (A little birdy told me you might find RB’s own Britt and Rich behind the Woodfire grill this summer - I’m expecting some sumptuous vids you lucky things).

Rather surprisingly, it seems the clouds have parted just in time for the summer holiday. First stop, The Jolly Sportsman Summer Fest on 27 and 28 July with delicious food, live jazz and games in that beautiful beautiful garden. Worried about what you’ll do with the little darlings for the next six weeks? We say, stuff your summer with foodie fun…

My kids are already nagging me for boba tea outings (whatever happened to ice-cream?) but top of my list of treats-to-try is Honey Cake by Mary in Hove. The loveliness of it! I’m pretty sure the kids can be persuaded…

Speaking of cake - a huge Happy Birthday to The Grand which is celebrating its 160 anniversary this week. To celebrate this historic moment, the iconic facade will be illuminated at nightfall over the weekend of 19 July. Visit the spectacular photographic homage to the hotel showing in The Regency Room (15 - 28 July) before indulging in a Grandeur cocktail, specially created to mark this milestone and available until the end of the year (Jude got a preview and apparently it’s next level delicious).

WIN Dinner for Two with Drinks at BRAVO Winner Bonsai Plant Kitchen |
Our blogger Mia wanted to try the whole menu when she visited The Better Half pub with a friend. We’ve also been at The Grand to see the birthday celebrations shaping up. In more news, The New Club on the seafront, The Plough Inn Rottingdean and Market have all launched delicious new menus. Great to hear that Cin Cin’s petit four are now available at award-winning cocktail purveyors The Plotting Parlour. Just announced, summer collab Fatto a Mano x Trealy Farm - authentic Italian pizza with local charcuterie magic. And that’s not the half of it…
We do our best to keep on top of it all but don’t be shy to share top tips and foodie news with us here. Especially if you think we’re missing a trick ; )
Yours on the clock,
Hannah and Team RB
