Hello Brighton!
We are delighted to announce a brand new restaurant sustainability project in collaboration with The University of Brighton. The plan is to produce a toolkit for local restaurants with actionable ‘easy wins’ to improve sustainability. Good food and the environment go hand-in-hand and we’re so excited to have found a space where we can have a measurable impact.

Speaking of which, sustainable, low-waste cocktail bar GungHo always goes above and beyond, using local and foraged ingredients to produce outstandingly delicious and genuinely innovative concoctions. Their effort has been rewarded with a coveted Class Bar Award. Huge congratulations!

Eating seasonally is part of the big sustainability picture and restaurants all over the city are launching their spring menus. Best enjoyed on the glorious terrace, read about the joys of English's of Brighton’s new spring menu here. The spring set menus at wonderful French Petit Pois and Bistro du Vin or award-winning Wild Flor and etch. will all showcase the season's best produce with aplomb.

Brighton’s gardeners are busy all year round but it is about now that the fruits of their labour become beautifully obvious. From Kemptown to Portslade, the city is bursting with colour while terraces are scrubbed and planters tended in readiness. We walked past Tinto Taperia, Furna and The Salt Room looking gorgeously glam in the sunshine this week. But did you know that BRAVO winners terre à terre and Bonsai Plant Kitchen both have fabulous alfresco dining spaces at the back?

Home to one of the most unique rooftop bars in central Brighton, The Mesmerist has just launched a ‘banging’ new TexMex menu so we sent our intrepid culinary explorer Brittany and her family to try it out. By the sounds of it, the foodie-friendly menu, relaxed atmosphere, pitch-perfect cocktails and wicked soundtrack went down a storm.

I was lucky enough to visit The Jolly Sportsman in East Chiltington this week. If you’ve never been, the ‘cottage’ garden is a dream. Join The Jolly Sportsman for a Spring Festival of local food, live jazz, and summer reopening of the snazzy garden bar this May Bank Holiday weekend (4 & 5 May). Plus The Jolly Sportsman has lots more great events coming up this summer season.

WIN Brunch for Four with a Bottle of Prosecco Each at Jo & Co |
This week, our friends at Jo & Co are treating four lucky pals to a Bubbles Brunch. Indulge in any brunch item from the mouthwatering menu while you enjoy a full bottle of Prosecco each - yes really!
|
We’ve all had a busy old week at Restaurants Brighton but perhaps none more so than our plucky producer Jude Coventry who made it from collecting fresh eggs from Macs Farm in Ditchling with Jo & Co, to Hove’s Mediterranean hotspot E39, to The Grand Hotel in Brighton within a few short hours. She was shedding mud-caked wellies as she went and never broke a sweat. What a trooper!

We’re exploring new openings and finding out about exciting summer plans so watch this space. In the meantime - check out this week’s best offers here - they’re absolute corkers!
Yours adventurously,
Hannah and Team RB
